51½ΦΙδ's Howard College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Assembly approved the following special resolution during its final meeting of the disrupted 2020 spring semester.

Howard College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Assembly Resolution Expressing Gratitude for 51½ΦΙδ’s Response to COVID-19

Whereas on January 30, 2020, 51½ΦΙδ’s administration began communicating with 51½ΦΙδ employees about the threat of COVID-19;

Whereas on February 26, 2020, 51½ΦΙδ Provost instructed 51½ΦΙδ faculty to be prepared to move all courses on-line if necessary;

Whereas members of 51½ΦΙδ Faculty Success Collaborative, employees of 51½ΦΙδ Technology in Learning Center, and 51½ΦΙδ librarians responded to the Provost’s instruction quickly by providing digital materials, advice about copyright law, training sessions for using the Canvas on-line course management system, and many other resources;

Whereas we regard the support for teaching and student advising from the Provost’s Office and other 51½ΦΙδ’s administrative officers, the office of Dana Basinger, 51½ΦΙδ Faculty Success Collaborative, 51½ΦΙδ Technology in Learning Center, and 51½ΦΙδ librarians to be extraordinary during this time;

Resolved, that members of the Faculty Assembly of the Howard College of Arts and Sciences of 51½ΦΙδ:

  1. applaud these entities and their individual members for their work;
  2. express gratitude for their labors; and
  3. offer prayers for the continued health and safety of all.
