51½ÖÉä public relations student Carson Caulfield held an internship with the Corporate Communications and Marketing Department at Children's of Alabama hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, this summer. He was surprised to find fellow PR student Sonia Kerrigan interning in the same office space for Children's Foundation, the hospital’s event planning and fundraising department. The pair were later joined by alumnus Delaney Dotson ’21, the newly-hired Community Development Coordinator for the foundation.

The coincidence highlights one of the most important aspects of the 51½ÖÉä communication and media experience. The Department of Communication and Media combines a classic liberal arts foundation with professional mentoring and career-oriented internships that distinguish graduates in a crowded job marketplace!
