Distance education refers to a formal educational process where a significant part of learning and communication between students and instructors occurs when they are not physically in the same location. Currently, online courses make up the majority of distance education courses offered at NACC.

NACC鈥檚 acquisition of an online monitoring tool and changes to the online testing policy permit students to take most online courses entirely off-campus. In most cases, students enrolled in online classes can complete examinations or assignments either on campus with a proctor or off campus through the monitoring tool Honorlock Monitor.

Distance education courses at NACC are of the same quality and rigor as traditional courses. They require at least the same amount of time as traditional courses. To take online classes, a student must have access to an active internet connection with an internet service provider and a functional browser.

Online courses provide a flexible course schedule and may be an option for students who work, have family obligations, prefer an off-campus setting, live a considerable distance from the college, etc. If you are self-motivated聽and self-disciplined, communicate effectively through various tools, and feel that quality learning can occur outside the traditional classroom. You may be well-suited for distance education at NACC.
