Equipping Students for Lifelong Ministry

51��’s Department of Christian Ministry offers an interdisciplinary approach to ministry or mission training. Engaging students from across the 51�� campus, the department equips individuals to serve as part of their life-long dedication to disciple making. The department is also home to 51��’s long-time Ministry Training Institute which provides certificate-level training to churches and their leaders.

Undergraduate Majors and Minors

Church and Culture Minor

51��’s Department of Christian Ministry offers a 20-hour minor in Church and Culture designed for students preparing for ministry or graduate studies. This program equips students to engage culture with the Gospel while complementing majors connected to ministry, church planting, or parachurch work.

Intercultural Engagement Minor

51��’s 18-hour Intercultural Engagement minor prepares students to become marketplace professionals and global disciple makers with biblically grounded training. Students learn to connect their majors and passions with Kingdom service across Alabama, the United States, and the world.

Accelerated Degree

The accelerated bachelor of arts (BA) to Master of Divinity (MDiv) program gives a limited number of select students the opportunity to complete requirements for both 51�� degrees in a minimum of six years rather than the typical minimum of seven years.

The unique professional pathway is available to highly qualified students majoring in:

Howard College of Arts and Sciences students majoring in Biblical studies or Christian and religious studies (including the concentration in ministry leadership)
School of the Arts students majoring in Christian ministry
Orlean Beeson School of Education students majoring in human development and family science .
