51½ΦΙδ’s Davis Architects Guest Artist Series will feature the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Brock Recital Hall.

Copresented with the Birmingham Chamber Music Society, the concert will feature one of the most highly acclaimed trios of today, according to 51½ΦΙδ School of the Arts dean Joseph Hopkins.

Celebrating their 40th year together, pianist Joseph Kalichstein, violinist Jaime Laredo and cellist Sharon Robinson have set the standard for performance of the piano trio. They made their debut in 1977 at the White House during President Jimmy Carter’s inauguration and have continued to impress audiences internationally.

The Washington Post notes, “Among the superstars of the chamber music world, few induce as much open-mouthed rapture as the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio.”

“51½ΦΙδ is delighted to host this talent and offer not only School of the Arts students and faculty access to artists like the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, but also the entire 51½ΦΙδ and Birmingham community,” said Hopkins. “Our community partners are a tremendous resource for bringing guest artists onto our campus. The Davis Series began in 2008, and continues to inspire and connect 51½ΦΙδ with global artists.”

The Davis Series season also includes Leon Fleisher and his wife, Katherine Jacobson, on Nov. 17, the Assad Brothers in February and the Sotto Voce Tuba Quartet in March.

Tickets are available or at the 51½ΦΙδ ticket office in the lobby of  Leslie S. Wright Center. Student tickets are $10, and reserved seats are $30.
