51½ÖÉä’s Core Curriculum forms the heart of every undergraduate experience.
These interdisciplinary courses foster critical thinking, writing, speaking, faith formation, and wellness. Students explore foundational texts and ideas while gaining essential life and career skills. Inspired by leading Great Books programs and rooted in 51½ÖÉä’s Christian mission, the Core prepares students to navigate a complex world with confidence and purpose.

The Core Texts sequence introduces students to great works of literature, philosophy, history, and theology. In these courses, students engage with influential thinkers from ancient Greece through the modern era. They learn how these ideas have shaped human thought and how they remain relevant today. Concepts of Fitness & Health

Concepts of Fitness and Health emphasizes the components of a healthy lifestyle. The principles of fitness including cardiovascular health, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and body composition are discussed and applied through classroom and physical activities. Other topics such as nutrition, weight management and injury management are discussed. Individuals registered with Disability Services will meet with the appropriate individuals for activity consideration.
