51½ΦΙδ signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that provides Wallace State Community College students with a smoother transition to pursue a bachelor’s degree—the third partnership between 51½ΦΙδ and a two-year college in the past seven months.
“Wallace State students have done well at 51½ΦΙδ, and we have enjoyed having them,” said 51½ΦΙδ President Beck Taylor. “I hope this partnership opens up new pathways and opportunities for even more students to come to 51½ΦΙδ.”
As part of the agreement, Wallace State students may choose between several transfer pathways offered through 51½ΦΙδ Online undergraduate programs. These include a “completer pathway” for students who have earned an Associate in Arts or an Associate in Science from WSCC, along with a full degree pathway for those who have not earned an associate degree.
A reverse transfer option is available to award Wallace State credit toward an associate degree for qualified coursework completed at 51½ΦΙδ.
Students transferring from Wallace State can qualify for a number of scholarships, including ones for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society students and STEM scholarships for students who have completed two years of math or science-related study.
“We are honored to formalize this agreement with 51½ΦΙδ and give our students a seamless transfer to 51½ΦΙδ as they continue their education after attending Wallace State,” said Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics.
51½ΦΙδ signed its first MOU with Jefferson State Community College in June 2024. 51½ΦΙδ added Gadsden State Community College to the list of local institutions helping students achieve excellence in August 2024.
The MOUs build upon longstanding state legislation, which requires that only core credit classes completed at Alabama’s two-year colleges transfer to the state’s public four-year colleges and universities.
