Our Mission
51½ΦΙδ Wellness aspires to articulate the "why" and promote the "how" of living rooted and fruitful lives as individuals and as a community. Our efforts to nurture persons and serve the campus are informed and inspired by the eight concepts of holistic wellness: financial, environmental, emotional, social, spiritual, academic, physical, and vocational wellness.
51½ΦΙδ Wellness supports and promotes wellness across campus through: Wellness Ambassadors, Care Conversations, wellness cadres, Campus Well App, student and employee trainings, events, and the 51½ΦΙδ Food Pantry.
51½ΦΙδ Food Pantry
“Nearly 40% of college students have experienced food insecurity, meaning they do not know where their next meal will come from. That means in a college class of 30 students, 12 of them may not know when or if they will eat that day.” – Edmed.org
Over 30% of 51½ΦΙδ students reported some level of food insecurity in a recent National College Health Assessment on Campus.

Our Wellness team can provide educational and preventative workshops, resources and presentations around the eight concepts of holistic wellness: emotional, spiritual, physical, environmental, financial, vocational and social. Wellness Ambassadors
Cordelia Lampton
Cordelia is a first-year pharmacy student from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. It comes as no surprise that Cordelia is passionate about helping others and spreading awareness about the mental, emotional, and physical health issues that college students face. Cordelia shares, “I’m looking forward to working with campus leaders and campus organizations to promote a positive experience for students.” She is an active participant in numerous student organizations and adds such a warm presence wherever she finds herself. We are thrilled to have Cordelia representing the graduate school experience in our Wellness Ambassadors, and we look forward to seeing how she leads her peers towards wellness.
Rhyan Nunn
Rhyan is double-majoring in psychology and sociology, and she hails from Cincinnati, Ohio. Rhyan’s majors illustrate her drive to care for the whole person, and she uses her studies to better understand how our internal feelings and thought affect our external experiences. In her role as a wellness ambassador, she is particularly interested in helping students and peers know when to ask for help and where to find it. When she is not studying and leading on campus, you can find her hanging out with her pet turtle Screech. We are thrilled to have her advocating for her peers.
Caroline Altman
Caroline Altman is a biology major on the Pre-Physician Assistant track from Jackson, Mississippi, who is passionate about promoting holistic wellness and authenticity at 51½ΦΙδ. Her lively spirit is highlighted through her involvement across multiple areas on campus including an assortment of pre-health organizations, intramurals, and her sorority. She finds her rest outside of academics by being engaged in her local church, traveling often, reading when she can, and exploring the outdoors. She heavily emphasizes the importance of healthy emotional processing, and her diverse interests and enthusiasm enrich our Wellness Ambassador program.
Agnes Moriarty
Agnes is a biology major on a pre-physician assistant track from Indianapolis, Indiana. She is an avid mental health advocate and is passionate about helping others through volunteer work. She loves having discussions about mental health and believes awareness is the first step in normalizing accepting help in your own life. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to expand her knowledge and connect with her peers through the Wellness Ambassador’s program.
Caroline Hardy
Caroline Hardy is a sophomore nursing major from Nashville, TN. She aspires to be a nurse practitioner who cares for the patient holistically, an approach she will certainly enhance in her position as a wellness ambassador. When not promoting 51½ΦΙδ CARES, Caroline can be found with the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi or with the children at the Lakeshore Foundation.
Kaylee Pappa
Kaylee Pappa is a senior nursing major pursuing a career in emergency nursing. She is passionate about advocating for patients and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as individuals experiencing mental crises. Kaylee is also passionate about serving and helping others and has stated that she is “overjoyed to help students understand holistic wellness and promote the removal of stigma regarding mental health” in her role as a 51½ΦΙδ Wellness Ambassador.
Micah Gaddy
Hey, everyone! My name is Micah Gaddy, and I am a Junior at 51½ΦΙδ majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Spanish. I was born and raised in Wheaton, IL, but I am soon moving to Franklin, TN with my family. I have an older brother who graduated from Hillsdale College in 2023 and a younger sister who is a Senior in High School looking to come to 51½ΦΙδ. In my spare time I enjoy swimming, playing the guitar, and hiking with my friends. I am very excited to be working with 51½ΦΙδ Cares this year as a Wellness Ambassador and hope to educate the campus on topics that are much needed for college students to apply to their lives.
Sarah Hescock
Hi, my name is Sarah Hescock. I am a sophomore psychology major from New Orleans, Louisiana. Bringing awareness to mental health has always been a passion of mine. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and exploring Birmingham. Adjusting to college can be hard but I am here to help anyone who needs it. I can’t wait to share more aspects of 51½ΦΙδ Cares with the students.
Become a Wellness Ambassador
Thank you for your interest in 51½ΦΙδ’s Counseling’s Wellness Ambassador program! This program provides a new leadership opportunity for enrolled undergraduate students who are interested in and committed to raising awareness about mental health and holistic wellness among 51½ΦΙδ’s student body. After completing a Wellness Ambassador Cadre in the spring semester of one’s freshman, sophomore, or junior year, the Wellness Coordinator will make final selections from the remaining interested students who have submitted an application for the Wellness Ambassador Program set to serve during the following academic year. Exceptions to the cadre requirement are at the discretion of the Wellness Coordinator. Wellness Ambassadors serve one entire academic year as a campus leader and facilitator of wellness-related education, advocacy, awareness and involvement. Participants work directly with Counseling office staff to enhance the wellness programs provided each semester.
